WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS MONTH?

2s

Mrs. G. & Mrs. Obaker

Mrs. Obaker and I cannot believe our year is coming to an end. It seems like yesterday your little ones entered our classroom shy, hesitant, and sometimes teary. It has been a joy watching them blossom throughout the year. It has been exciting to watch friendships form and skills develop. Your children are sweet, funny, and talented. It has been a pleasure working with them. The fun is not quite over though! We will wrap up the year by making Mother’s Day gifts and beginning our ocean unit. This is always a class favorite. They love to learn about the different sea life creatures! As always, thank you for sharing your children with us!

It’s hard to believe we’re already in the final month of school! As we wrap up our unit on all things creepy and crawly, we’ll be diving into an exciting new topic—dinosaurs! We’ll explore math and measurement by comparing our footprints to a T-Rex’s, go on a “dig” for dinosaur bones, and learn all about the differences between carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores.

To celebrate the end of a fantastic year, we’ll have a themed spirit week during our last week of school, featuring “Messy Monday,” “Wacky Wednesday,” and “Farewell Friday!” More details will be shared soon via Bloomz.

It’s been such a wonderful year with your children, and we’re so proud of all they’ve learned and accomplished. Wishing you a joyful, adventure-filled summer—and we’ll see you next year!

Mrs. Placek & Mrs. Turner

It’s hard to believe we are already at the end of an amazing school year! We will be finishing our insect unit and moving into a brief dinosaur unit to wrap up the school year. This unit will cover math and measurement looking at dinosaur footprints, dig for bones, and learn about carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores. During the last week of school we will be celebrating with a spirit week- Messy Monday, Tropical Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, and Farewell Friday. Look out for an email including more details about our fun-filled theme week! We have truly loved spending this year with your wonderful children and are so proud of how much they have grown! We wish you a fun and adventurous summer!

Now that we’re masters of the alphabet and letter sounds, we’re working on number recognition and conceptualizing quantities using a ten frame and other math strategies. We’re starting the month with a unit on pizza and ice cream–something fun to wind down the year! Our dramatic play corner will transform into a working Pizzeria and there will be fun sensory opportunities using flour, pasta, and even some pizza baking and ice cream tasting of our own. Our last unit of the year will focus on the ocean and sea creatures as we take advantage of some outdoor water play while learning about animal features. Our Star Student project begins May 1 (more info will be sent home with your student at the end of April). Details about the final week of school and our graduation ceremony is forthcoming. We have had an incredible year with your children and wish you all the best for a fun-filled, adventure-packed summer!

Mrs. Bosher

Hard to believe we’ve made it to May already! It’s been such a joy having your children all school year. We are sepnding the month learning all about Habitats with mini units on Pond, Ocean, Savannah, Rain Forest, Desert and Forest. So many animal friends to learn about! We’re also reviewing all of our letters and numbers and prepping for pur big graduation performance. Such a bittersweet time of year.

Director's Notes

I want to thank all of you for trusting us with your children. This year was a success because of our wonderful families and staff! I am so grateful for your support and faith in us during this school year! We are still taking registration forms for Dulaney Day Extended (Camp) which will run from Tuesday, May 27th – Friday, June 6th. If you need a registration form, just email, or ask me!

Every member of our community is a gift. Whether our students, faculty members or families have been here for one year or ten, it is never easy for us to say good-bye. We always wish we had just one more year together. So, for now, let’s leave it at, “See you soon!”

Happy summer from all of us at Dulaney Day Preschool!
