WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS MONTH?
2s
Mrs. G. & Mrs. Obaker
We feel lucky to be with such a wonderful group of children and their families! In preparation for St. Patrick’s Day, we will make shamrocks by marble painting and bake shamrock biscuits. Then we will discuss the colors of the rainbow to make our Pot of Gold. During the end of the month, we will have fun with nursery rhymes, sunflowers, and birds! March is going to be fun!

Mrs. Musci & Mrs. Rainsley
This month begins with the conclusion of our community helpers unit, featuring special guests from the fire department and a nurse. We’ll also be learning about doctors, dentists, veterinarians and other community helpers. To kick off our Dulaney Day vet clinic, please have your child bring their favorite stuffed animal to school on Wednesday, March 12th. To wrap up this unit in a fun way, your child can dress as their future career on Friday, March 14th. Be sure to check Bloomz announcements for more details on these special activities. As we move into mid-month, we’ll celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with rainbow and color science. Later in the month, we’ll embrace the official start of spring by exploring weather changes and seasonal differences. We’ll also study the life cycle of plants and watch flowers grow from seeds we plant ourselves!

Mrs. Placek & Mrs. Turner
We cannot believe March is here already. We have been having so much fun learning about Community Helpers and all the fun jobs that they do! We are so excited to have firefighters visiting on Friday March 7! Students will get to learn about firefighters and tour a fire engine. We will be having “Career Day” on March 14 where students can come in dressed as what they would like to be when they grow up.
We will end the month with a unit on all things rainbow and luck to prepare for St. Patrick’s Day.
4s
Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Powell
We’re starting the month with a unit learning about famous artists and trying our hand at work inspired by the greats. Students will have the opportunity to paint pop art inspired by Andy Warhol and self-portraits in the style of Frida Kahlo. We’ll use this unit as a time to talk about color and empower our students to be artists in their own right! After this unit, we’ll celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by setting a leprechaun trap and counting on a little bit of luck. To round out the month, students will learn about the weather by experimenting with tornadoes, learning about the water cycle and rain clouds, and tracking weather patterns. We are almost finished learning each letter of the alphabet, completing U through X. They are getting so excited and proud to say that they’ve mastered the entire alphabet!
Mrs. Bosher
March starts with Mrs Bosher’s friends celebrating all things books for Read Across America week! The middle of the month will contain our Post Office unit. This will give the students the chance to practice writing their full names, learning their addresses and sending/receiving mail. I am accepting donations of blank greeting/note cards, envelopes ect for the unit. Thanks so much! At the end of the month we will start talking about the weather. The students have already made their predictions about whether March is going to have more sunny, rainy or cloudy days and Student of the Day has an extra job this month tracking the weather. Our alphabet focus will be on the letters U, V, W & X!
Director's Notes
We will have picture day again this year! Irvin Simon will take an individual picture and a class picture. For those families that have siblings, they also take a sibling shot. The T/TH 2s and 4s classes will be taken on Tuesday, March 18th and the M/W 2s and 3s classes will be on Wednesday, March 19th. We have a few spots in the 4s class for the 2025-2026 school year. Feel free to let me know if you know anyone that is interested!
