WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS MONTH?

2s

Mrs. G. & Mrs. Obaker

In the month of February, we will be learning about heart shapes and Valentine’s Day. We will talk about friendships and loved ones. Our art activities will include lots of hearts and the colors, red, pink, and purple. We will transform a cinnamon roll into a heart shape during the baking activity. For our Valentine’s Day party, we will pass out Valentine’s and place each one in a bag that we decorated. February may be a short month, but it sure will be busy and lots of fun!

Mrs. Musci & Mrs. Rainsley

This month, we’ll start by finishing our unit on Arctic animals, diving into how these animals stay warm and how they adapt to survive in such a cold climate. Then, we’ll get into the Valentine’s Day spirit with sensory activities, counting exercises, and of course, a fun party! Afterward, we’ll kick off a new unit on community helpers, the real-life heroes of our communities! We’ll explore various occupations like mail carriers, police officers, firefighters, doctors, and dentists. There will be a lot of fun role-playing, with a classroom setup that includes a doctor’s office, “firefighting” practice, and delivering and sending mail.

3s

Mrs. Placek & Mrs. Turner

We had so much fun using books to journey our way through our Winter theme in January! This month we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day and continuing our theme of love to learn about numbers, letters, and emotional regulation. When buying or making Valentine’s, remember that our classroom has 9 students. Please do not write names on the Valentine’s as that makes it very hard for the children to exchange them in a timely manner. We are so excited to be back in the classroom together!

4s

Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Powell

We’re starting the month of February by celebrating Valentine’s Day! This holiday provides us with an opportunity to talk about love, kindness, and appreciating our families, friends, and classmates. We will use multiple (unusual!) mediums to make art, including paint, shaving cream, baking soda, and vinegar. We are also working hard on number recognition from 10-20 and are practicing graphing and counting. Our Valentine’s Day celebration will be Friday, February 14. Please check Bloomz and your email for more information about this party. Valentine’s Day makes the perfect lead-in to our unit on the Post Office, letter writing, and mail. We’ll transform our classroom into a mini Post Office where each student will have their own mailbox. This will allow the class to practice writing their classmates’ names, send letters, and learn about the workings of a post office. We’ll be sending some real mail via USPS to special people in our lives. If you would like to contribute to our unit, we would be grateful for donations of blank cards and envelopes (even just the ones that you get for free in the mail!). This month we’re learning the letters Q through T. Mrs. Powell and I continue to be so amazed by their mastery of letter sounds and names!

Mrs. Bosher

The first week of February has Mrs Bosher’s friends wrapping up their unit on Transportation. Our kitchen area will be transformed into an Airport complete with security checkpoint, ticket counter and airplane. The second week brings Valentine’s Day and a brand new theme- Outer Space! There is so much fun to be had with this one. Letters Q, R, S & T will be visited as well.

Director's Notes

We will have picture day again this year! Irvin Simon will take an individual picture and a class picture.  For those families that have siblings, they also take a sibling shot. The T/TH 2s and 4s will be taken on Tuesday, March 18th and the M/W 2s and 3s classes will be taken on Wednesday, March 19th.
